Islamabad, November 12, 2024 — Petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan may see a steep increase starting November 16, as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has recommended implementing a General Sales Tax (GST) on petroleum products and raising the Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) from Rs60 to Rs70 per liter.
If the government proceeds with these measures, fuel prices are expected to rise sharply, adding to the financial strain on consumers already grappling with high inflation. This would mark the second consecutive biweekly increase in fuel prices, part of the IMF-mandated economic reforms currently underway.
