Islamabad, November 13, 2024- Ethiopia’s Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary to Pakistan, H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, received the prestigious Global Ambassador Award on Wednesday, recognizing his outstanding diplomatic contributions in fostering stronger ties between Ethiopia and Pakistan. The award was conferred by The Diplomatic Insight, a public diplomacy organization in Pakistan, during the 6th Global Ambassador Awards Ceremony in Islamabad.

The event was attended by ambassadors, diplomats, parliamentarians, government officials, business leaders, academics, media representatives, and civil society members. H.E. Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, attended as the chief guest.

Dr. Jemal Beker’s efforts have led to numerous bilateral achievements, including the launch of Ethiopian Airlines in Karachi, mobilizing multiple trade delegations between the two nations, and signing various Memoranda of Understanding in commerce, trade, health, science, and technology. His initiatives have been instrumental in building the Ethio-Pakistani relationship on both governmental and societal levels.

Dr. Jemal’s accolades include the Best Ambassador Award from the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a Peace Award from the National Peace and Justice Council of Pakistan, and the COMSTECH Award for strengthening fraternity between Ethiopia and Pakistan. He has also launched the Green Legacy Initiative in Pakistan, an afforestation campaign spearheaded by Ethiopian Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed, aiming to enhance food security.

The award is a testament to Dr. Jemal’s success in bridging civilizations and advancing diplomatic, economic, and cultural collaboration between Ethiopia and Pakistan, further enriching Ethio-Pakistani relations.
