Islamabad, June 18, 2026: Pakistan has expressed condolences over the death of a Belarusian citizen and conveyed its sympathies to those affected by an attack on a civilian bus carrying Belarusian nationals in Russia’s Bryansk region.

According to diplomatic sources, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Pakistan Andrei Metelitsa met with Director General (Europe-II) at Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shahbaz Hussain, on Thursday to discuss the incident.

During the meeting, Ambassador Metelitsa briefed the Pakistani side on what Belarus described as a criminal attack on a civilian bus carrying Belarusian citizens, including children, in Russia’s Bryansk region on June 17.

The envoy informed officials that the attack resulted in the death of one Belarusian citizen and injuries to eight others, including six minors.

Expressing sympathy over the incident, Director General Shahbaz Hussain conveyed Pakistan’s condolences on the loss of life and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

The meeting reflected continued diplomatic engagement between Pakistan and Belarus, with both sides acknowledging the humanitarian impact of the attack and the need for support for the victims and their families.

The incident has drawn concern due to the presence of children among the passengers, highlighting the tragic consequences of violence against civilians.
