Islamabad, June 20, 2026: Uzbekistan has lauded Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in facilitating the recently signed Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov congratulating Pakistan’s leadership for its constructive role in advancing regional and international peace.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar received a telephone call from his Uzbek counterpart, Bakhtiyor Saidov, on Saturday.
During the conversation, Saidov conveyed congratulations on behalf of the President of Uzbekistan and himself on the signing of the Islamabad MoU. He commended the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Chief of Defence Staff General Syed Asim Munir for their efforts in facilitating the agreement.
The Uzbek foreign minister appreciated Pakistan’s role as a mediator and acknowledged its significant contribution to international peace initiatives, as well as its efforts to promote regional peace and stability.
The two foreign ministers expressed optimism that the momentum generated by the agreement would continue in the next phase of engagement, helping pave the way for lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and beyond.
Both sides also agreed to remain in close contact and continue consultations on matters of mutual interest.
The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has drawn international attention, with several countries welcoming Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement and mediation efforts aimed at fostering dialogue and reducing regional tensions.
