Islamabad, June 20, 2026: Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Saturday that technical-level talks between the United States and Iran will be held in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, on June 21 as part of the follow-up process to the recently signed Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, representatives from the United States and Iran will participate in the discussions, alongside mediators from Pakistan and Qatar.

The talks mark the first formal technical engagement since the signing of the Islamabad MoU, which established a framework for dialogue aimed at resolving longstanding disputes and advancing efforts toward regional stability.

The Foreign Office said Pakistan would continue to facilitate the process in its role as mediator, with the objective of advancing the understandings reached under the agreement.

Diplomatic sources view the Bürgenstock meeting as a crucial next step in translating the political commitments contained in the Islamabad MoU into practical arrangements. The discussions are expected to focus on complex technical issues, including Iran’s nuclear programme, sanctions relief, verification mechanisms, and other measures designed to build confidence between the two sides.

The announcement comes amid intensified diplomatic activity following the landmark understanding between Washington and Tehran, which was facilitated through mediation efforts led by Pakistan and supported by Qatar.

Pakistan has received international recognition for its role in helping bridge differences between the United States and Iran, with several countries praising Islamabad’s diplomatic engagement in support of regional peace and stability.

Officials hope the Switzerland talks will help maintain momentum and lay the groundwork for further negotiations aimed at transforming the initial understanding into a comprehensive and durable agreement.
