Islamabad, June 24, 2026: Convenor of the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights (PCCR), Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, has strongly condemned the reported sexual assault and murder of a minor girl in Sargodha, describing the incident as a heinous violation of a child’s fundamental rights and dignity.

In a statement issued on behalf of the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights, Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan expressed profound grief over the tragedy and extended condolences to the bereaved family.

“This heinous and reprehensible crime is a grave violation of the rights, dignity, and sanctity of a child and has deeply shocked the conscience of our society,” she said.

The PCCR conveyed solidarity with the victim’s family and prayed for strength and patience for them during this difficult time.

Dr. Nikhat emphasized that every child has the fundamental right to life, protection, dignity, and security. She called upon the relevant authorities to ensure a transparent, impartial, and speedy investigation into the case and urged law enforcement agencies to bring those responsible to justice without delay.

“The perpetrators of such horrific crimes must be held fully accountable in accordance with the law,” she stated.

The caucus noted that the tragic incident highlights the urgent need to further strengthen child protection systems, improve institutional coordination, and ensure the effective implementation of laws aimed at safeguarding children from abuse, exploitation, and violence.

Reaffirming its commitment to child rights, the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights called on government institutions, civil society organizations, communities, and other stakeholders to work collectively to create a safe and secure environment for children across Pakistan.

The statement further emphasized that the protection and well-being of children must remain a national priority, adding that the caucus would continue advocating for stronger legislative, legal, and institutional measures to prevent such incidents and ensure the safety and best interests of every child.
