Islamabad, June 24, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Wednesday, during which the two leaders discussed the ongoing Iran-US peace process and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting regional stability through dialogue and diplomacy.

At the outset of the conversation, Ishaq Dar congratulated Wang Yi on the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and conveyed Pakistan’s best wishes on the occasion.

According to the Foreign Office, the discussion focused primarily on the Iran-US peace process, particularly the first round of high-level talks held in Bürgenstock under the mediation efforts of Pakistan and Qatar.

Dar briefed his Chinese counterpart on the progress made during the negotiations, including the establishment of a high-level committee tasked with overseeing the mediation process under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

He informed Wang Yi that three specialized working groups had been constituted to address key issues, including the nuclear file, sanctions, and mechanisms for monitoring and dispute resolution. The groups are expected to work toward facilitating a comprehensive agreement between the parties within a 60-day timeframe.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed appreciation for China’s consistent support for the peace initiative and highlighted the significance of Xi Jinping’s four-point peace proposal, as well as the joint five-point Pakistan-China peace initiative aimed at promoting dialogue and conflict resolution.

Wang Yi congratulated Pakistan’s leadership on its role in facilitating the mediation process and the signing of the Islamabad MoU. He praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, including its sustained engagement, active mediation, and outreach initiatives designed to encourage peaceful negotiations.

The Chinese Foreign Minister reiterated Beijing’s unwavering support for Pakistan’s mediation efforts and underscored the importance of resolving disputes through peaceful means in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Charter.

Both leaders reaffirmed the shared resolve of Pakistan and China to continue working closely in support of a negotiated settlement between the parties. They expressed hope that sustained diplomatic engagement would help bring an end to hostilities and contribute to lasting peace, regional stability, shared development, and common prosperity.

The conversation reflected the close coordination between Islamabad and Beijing on regional and international issues and their mutual commitment to advancing dialogue-based solutions to global challenges.
