Murree’s ‘Four-Season’ Tourism Boom: DPO Dr. Raza Tanveer Activates High-Tech Command for 1M Expected Vehicles

Murree , Jul 12 (SUB NEWS): Driven by intense heatwaves across the plains, summer vacations and heavy winter snowfall, the ‘Queen of Hills’ Murree has transitioned into a year-round, premier ‘four-season’ tourist destination. This paradigm shift has prompted a massive projected influx of over one million vehicles within the next 20 days across the district and its suburbs.

According to the latest analytical report issued by the Punjab Police’s Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS), District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, Dr. Raza Tanveer, highlighted the fluctuating seasonal traffic volumes that underscore this year-round tourism trend. During the winter tourism peak in January, Murree recorded 340,255 vehicles entering District Murree and 327,925 entering Murree City due to the heavy winter snowfall. Conversely, the early summer peak in May witnessed a record-breaking 394,523 district entries as tourists mostly headed towards suburban scenic routes like Patriata, Bhurban, and Nathia Gali. This trend sharply inverted in June, registering the highest-ever ‘City Entry’ with 411,935 vehicles directly squeezing into the urban core, mounting extreme pressure on Mall Road, Bank Road, and Kashmir Point.

DPO Dr. Raza Tanveer stated that the data from the first nine days of July (July 1 to 9) has already shattered previous benchmarks, logging 139,782 vehicle entries in the District and 165,701 in the City. Based on these scientific data trends, the current projection indicates that total vehicle entries will comfortably cross the 1,000,000 (one million) mark by July 31, making July 2026 the busiest and most challenging month in Murree’s history.

Acknowledging that this unprecedented vehicle surge poses an extraordinary infrastructural challenge, Dr. Raza Tanveer confirmed that Murree Police has completely dismantled traditional, reactive policing methods. The department has officially activated its high-tech, ‘Smart Data-Driven Command System’ to enforce predictive crisis management, ensuring the district and its bypasses are protected against potential traffic gridlocks.

Detailing the modern, integrated operational readiness, the DPO explained that the force has shifted from the traditional culture of reacting after a traffic jam occurs. By utilizing real-time digital feeds from the ITMS and Safe City monitoring screens, the team executes a proactive action plan. The moment vehicle density approaches the operational threshold of the city’s road capacity, live diversions are immediately activated to smoothly route incoming traffic toward alternative bypasses.

To seamlessly manage the massive summer vacation rush, heavy administrative reinforcements have been deployed on all primary entry and suburban routes. This includes additional traffic wardens and Safe City monitoring specialists mobilized from adjoining districts, alongside an up-scaled deployment of Rescue Services and specialized Tourist Facilitation Staff. These dedicated teams are tasked with ensuring smooth movement for commuting families, students, and tourists.

The DPO assured that Murree Police remains on high alert around the clock to guarantee a safe, uninterrupted, and pleasant journey for all travelers. He strongly advised citizens and tourists planning to visit the hill station to check live traffic updates via digital police channels before embarking on their journey to ensure a hassle-free trip.
