Islamabad, July 15,2026: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Wednesday underscored the importance of Pakistan’s rich Sufi heritage in promoting tolerance, dialogue and social harmony, saying the teachings of Sufi saints continue to offer valuable guidance in addressing the growing challenges of polarization and intolerance.

Speaking at the inauguration of the “Sufism & Culture” art exhibition by artists Roomi and Aiman at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) in Islamabad, Gilani congratulated the PNCA for organizing the exhibition and praised the artists for showcasing a theme deeply rooted in Pakistan’s spiritual and cultural traditions.

The chairman said Pakistan possesses one of the richest Sufi traditions in the Muslim world, which has left a lasting impact on the country’s poetry, music, architecture, languages and folklore. He noted that the enduring message of Sufism promotes respect, compassion and peaceful coexistence—values that are increasingly vital in today’s world.

Gilani said the teachings of Sufi saints remind humanity that respect is stronger than hatred, dialogue is more enduring than confrontation, and coexistence is more rewarding than exclusion. He stressed that these timeless principles can help build more peaceful, inclusive and resilient societies.

He also commended the artistic contributions of Roomi and Aiman, saying their work demonstrates how Pakistan’s cultural heritage continues to inspire contemporary artistic expression while connecting younger generations with enduring spiritual values.

The Senate chairman further appreciated the Pakistan National Council of the Arts and all those involved in organizing the exhibition for promoting Pakistan’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.

The exhibition was attended by artists, diplomats, cultural figures, art enthusiasts and distinguished guests from various walks of life, including Senators Atta Ur Rehman, Muhammad Abdul Qadir, Atta Ul Haq and Dilawar Khan, as well as several renowned artists and prominent personalities.
