Islamabad, July 18, 2026: Noreen Niazi, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has sparked controversy after making remarks about Maarka-e-Haq and the Pakistan Armed Forces during an interview on a YouTube channel.

During the interview, Noreen Niazi alleged that Maarka-e-Haq was the result of collaboration between the Pakistan Armed Forces and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She also claimed that India refrained from attacking Pakistan at Israel’s request because, according to her, Pakistan was moving towards recognizing Israel.

She did not provide any evidence to support the allegations made during the interview.

The remarks quickly drew widespread attention on social media and triggered debate across political circles.

Political commentators and analysts criticized the statements, describing them as unsubstantiated and potentially harmful to Pakistan’s national interests. They argued that such remarks could be exploited by hostile actors to promote narratives against Pakistan and its armed forces.

Several analysts also said the language and tone of the remarks reflected a politically charged narrative and cautioned that making unverified claims on matters related to national security could fuel political polarization and public confusion.

Some analysts further argued that the comments appeared inconsistent with PTI’s repeated public statements expressing support for the Pakistan Armed Forces. They said such remarks could undermine national unity and potentially be used by foreign media and external actors to reinforce anti-Pakistan narratives.

The controversy generated mixed reactions on social media, with supporters and critics expressing opposing views. Many users, however, called for greater responsibility and restraint in public discourse on issues relating to national security and state institutions.

The remarks come amid heightened political tensions in the country, making statements concerning the armed forces particularly sensitive.

As of the filing of this report, neither PTI nor Noreen Niazi had issued any clarification regarding the remarks, while there was no officiaal response from the Pakistan military or the federal government.
