Islamabad, July 19, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Relations and Foreign Trade of Venezuela, Félix Plasencia, during which the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in key sectors.
Dar congratulated Minister Plasencia on his appointment and conveyed Pakistan’s heartfelt condolences over the devastating earthquakes that recently struck Venezuela. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the government and people of Venezuela during the difficult period and expressed confidence in the country’s resilience and recovery.
Minister Plasencia thanked Pakistan for its message of sympathy and humanitarian solidarity with the victims of the natural disaster. He also appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting dialogue and de-escalation in the regional situation involving the United States and Iran, commending its commitment to peace and diplomacy.
The two foreign ministers reviewed the longstanding friendly relations between Pakistan and Venezuela and discussed ways to expand cooperation in trade, investment, business, agriculture, information technology and other areas of mutual interest. They underscored the significant potential for enhancing economic collaboration and strengthening people-to-people contacts for the mutual benefit of both countries.
Dar emphasized the importance of sustained high-level engagement to reinvigorate bilateral relations and deepen cooperation. Both ministers also appreciated the close coordination between Pakistan and Venezuela at multilateral forums on issues of shared interest.
The two sides agreed to remain in close contact and expressed their intention to meet at the earliest appropriate opportunity.
