Murree, July 19,2026: Despite an extraordinary influx of over 24,000 tourist vehicles into Murree within the last 24 hours, the overall traffic situation across the hill station remains entirely under control due to proactive traffic regulation and around-the-clock field supervision.
This was officially stated by District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanvir, while reviewing the comprehensive traffic operations report today.
According to the official statistics released for the period spanning July 18 to July 19 (1800 Hrs), a total of 24,002 vehicles entered the Murree District, while 17,655 vehicles exited, leaving a net volume of 6,347 vehicles within the district limits. Simultaneously, the City Entry/Exit points recorded the arrival of 20,839 vehicles and the departure of 16,244, with 4,595 vehicles currently present inside the main city areas.
DPO Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanvir highlighted that intermittent fog, heavy rainfall, and ongoing infrastructure projects including construction at Jhika Gali and GT Road diversions onto the Murree Expressway have naturally slowed down the speed of traffic.
To mitigate these challenges, the Murree Police have deployed extra traffic personnel at all key intersections and potential choking points. Senior police officers are continuously monitoring the situation through Safe City cameras and on-ground field supervision. “Our teams are actively guiding motorists via megaphones and real-time advisories to ensure smooth and safe journeys despite adverse weather conditions,” Dr. Raza Tanvir added, emphasizing that traffic is moving slowly but steadily without any prolonged blockages on major arteries.
