Islamabad, July 22, 2026: The Pakistan Anti-Corruption Academy (PACA), operating under the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), organised its fourth one-day orientation session for the Islamabad district judiciary on investigating and prosecuting money laundering cases within the global anti-money laundering framework.

Held under the guidance of NAB Chairman Lt Gen (Retd) Nazir Ahmed, the programme aimed to strengthen understanding of Pakistan’s anti-money laundering regime and enhance coordination among the judiciary, investigative agencies, prosecutors, financial institutions and regulatory authorities.

Judge of the Islamabad High Court, Justice Muhammad Azam Khan, attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. He appreciated NAB and PACA for organising the orientation sessions and highlighted the judiciary’s critical role in assessing complex financial evidence and upholding the rule of law in money laundering cases.

Addressing the participants, NAB Chairman Lt Gen (Retd) Nazir Ahmed described money laundering as a serious threat to economic stability and public accountability. He stressed the need for sustained inter-agency coordination and effective implementation of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2010, to combat financial crimes.

Deputy Chairman NAB Nasir Sohail, Director General NAB Muhammad Tahir, and Noor us Sahar delivered technical and legal presentations on money laundering investigations and prosecution mechanisms.

Director General PACA Ghulam Safdar Shah welcomed the participants and highlighted the academy’s growing role as a centre of excellence for capacity building and professional training in anti-corruption and financial crime investigations.

The session concluded with the distribution of certificates among participating judges and the presentation of commemorative souvenirs.
