Islamabad, July 22, 2026: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has been granted an FM Radio licence by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), marking a significant step towards establishing a dedicated broadcasting platform for Pakistan’s business community.

The licence was formally presented to ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood by PEMRA Chairperson Ambreen Jan at the authority’s headquarters. Executive Director General Wakil Khan, Director General Faqir Afzal Khan, Deputy Director Hassan Durrani, and other senior officials were also present at the ceremony.

Congratulating the ICCI leadership, Ambreen Jan appreciated the chamber’s role in promoting economic development and supporting the business community. She expressed confidence that the ICCI FM Radio would become a credible platform for disseminating authentic business information, encouraging entrepreneurship, attracting investment and fostering constructive dialogue on issues affecting Pakistan’s economy.

She said the initiative would help facilitate businesses while contributing to the country’s economic growth and prosperity.

Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Tahir Mehmood described the award of the FM Radio licence as a historic achievement for the chamber, saying it reflected ICCI’s commitment to adopting modern communication tools to better serve entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), exporters and investors.

He said the radio station would broadcast programmes focusing on trade, industry, taxation, investment opportunities, entrepreneurship, innovation, technology, skills development and government policies, while also providing a platform to highlight the concerns and aspirations of the private sector.

The ICCI president also highlighted the chamber’s continued efforts to support policy reforms, improve the investment climate, strengthen public-private dialogue and promote a more business-friendly environment conducive to sustainable economic growth.

ICCI Secretary General Ghulam Murtaza said the FM Radio platform would help raise business awareness, facilitate the timely dissemination of economic information and strengthen links between entrepreneurs and relevant institutions.

Business leaders from across the country, particularly from Islamabad, congratulated the ICCI leadership on securing the licence, expressing confidence that the new platform would amplify the voice of the business community and contribute to Pakistan’s long-term economic development.
