Islamabad, July 23, 2026: The U.S. Embassy in Islamabad on Thursday launched the “Let Freedom Ring” Liberty Bell exhibition at the Lok Virsa Museum, showcasing 16 artistically painted replicas of the iconic Liberty Bell created by Pakistani artists as part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States’ Declaration of Independence.
The launch ceremony was attended by U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Andy Halus and Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, highlighting a unique cultural collaboration between the U.S. Mission to Pakistan and artists from across the country.
Organized by the U.S. Mission’s Public Diplomacy Section through its Lincoln Corners network, the initiative invited 16 Pakistani artists to create their own interpretations of the Liberty Bell around the theme, “What does freedom mean to me?” The resulting artworks present diverse and vibrant Pakistani perspectives on the universal value of freedom, a principle central to the founding story of the United States.
The exhibition will remain open to the public from July 23 to July 27, 2026, at two of Islamabad’s leading cultural venues—the Lok Virsa Museum and the Pakistan Monument Museum—allowing visitors to experience all 16 Liberty Bell replicas during the five-day display.
Speaking at the inauguration, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Andy Halus said the exhibition reflected the shared appreciation of artistic expression and freedom in both Pakistan and the United States.
“Looking at this bell, I am reminded of something that Pakistan and the United States share deeply—a belief in the power of expression, of art, and of the freedom to imagine a better world. Lok Virsa has spent decades preserving that spirit in Pakistan. Today, we are proud to add America’s own story of freedom to this special place,” he said.
Federal Minister Aurangzeb Khan Khichi welcomed the initiative, describing it as a symbol of the strong bilateral relationship between Pakistan and the United States. He underscored the importance of art and cultural exchanges in strengthening people-to-people ties and fostering mutual understanding between the two countries.
The “Let Freedom Ring” exhibition forms part of the U.S. Mission Pakistan’s year-long Freedom 250 campaign, a global initiative commemorating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence through cultural, educational and public engagement programmes highlighting the enduring values of freedom, innovation and excellence.
