Islamabad, August 6, 2026: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Iran.
The agreement was signed in Islamabad during the closing ceremony of the 10th session of the Pakistan-Iran Joint Trade Committee.
The MoU was signed by FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh and ICCIMA Vice President Hossein Pirmoazzen in the presence of senior government officials, business leaders and representatives from both countries.
The Joint Trade Committee meeting was co-chaired by Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Iran’s Minister for Industry, Mines and Trade Dr. Mohammad Atabak. During the two-day session, both sides reviewed bilateral economic relations, discussed ways to expand trade and investment, and agreed on a comprehensive roadmap to address challenges facing the business communities of the two countries.
Under the agreement, FPCCI and ICCIMA will work together to promote barter trade, strengthen business-to-business linkages, encourage industrial cooperation and investment, facilitate the implementation of bilateral trade agreements and activate joint border markets to enhance cross-border commercial activities.
The signing ceremony was attended by FPCCI Vice President Tariq Khan Jadoon, FPCCI Capital Office Incharge Karim Aziz Malik, Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam, President of Kerman Chamber Seyed Mehdi Tabibzadeh, President of Zahedan Chamber and Iran-Pakistan Joint Chamber of Commerce Abdolhakim Rigi Mirjaveh, along with senior representatives of Tehran Chamber, the Iranian Shipping Association, industry leaders and business delegates from both countries.
Addressing the ceremony, FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh described the holding of the Joint Trade Committee meeting in Islamabad as a historic milestone in Pakistan-Iran economic relations.
He reaffirmed the Pakistani business community’s commitment to working closely with their Iranian counterparts to achieve the shared objective of increasing bilateral trade to US$10 billion.
He welcomed the comprehensive plan agreed upon by the two governments to resolve border-related trade issues and stressed the importance of sustained cooperation between the private sectors of Pakistan and Iran.
Atif Ikram Sheikh expressed confidence that stronger institutional collaboration between FPCCI and ICCIMA would create new opportunities for trade, investment, industrial partnerships and regional economic integration.
At the conclusion of the Joint Trade Committee session, the commerce ministers of Pakistan and Iran also signed the agreed minutes of the meeting, documenting the outcomes of the two days of discussions and outlining future cooperation across a broad range of trade and economic sectors.
