Islamabad, August 7, 2026: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Friday inaugurated the newly modernized office complex of the Senate Secretariat at Parliament House, describing the project as a key milestone in the institution’s ongoing modernization and administrative reform agenda aimed at strengthening parliamentary capacity.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Secretary Senate Syed Hasnain Haider, senior officers of the Senate Secretariat and officials associated with the execution of the project.

Addressing the ceremony, Chairman Gilani said strong democratic institutions require modern systems, efficient infrastructure and a professional working environment. He noted that the modernization of the Senate Secretariat is part of a broader reform programme designed to enhance institutional efficiency, improve service delivery and enable the Secretariat to better support Parliament in fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities.

He said the project reflects the Senate Secretariat’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and the prudent use of public resources. Instead of constructing new facilities, the initiative focused on upgrading and optimizing existing infrastructure through efficient planning, resulting in improved functionality, better workspace management and increased institutional capacity.

As part of the modernization programme, the Senate Secretariat has, for the first time, installed a state-of-the-art Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) air-conditioning system in the renovated office complex. Equipped with an advanced fresh-air oxygenation feature, the system provides a continuous supply of oxygen-rich fresh air while ensuring superior energy efficiency, precise climate control and improved indoor air quality, creating a healthier and more productive working environment for officers and staff.

The project also optimized the existing office layout, creating additional smart office accommodation without expanding the building’s footprint.

Chairman Gilani commended the project management team, engineers, architects, consultants and officials of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for their professionalism, dedication and meticulous planning, which ensured the successful completion of the project.

Reaffirming his commitment to institutional excellence, the Chairman Senate said modernizing parliamentary institutions is essential for responsive, efficient and transparent governance. He expressed confidence that the upgraded facilities would further strengthen the administrative capacity of the Senate Secretariat, enhance organizational performance and enable officers and staff to provide more effective support to Parliament and its committees.

He said the initiative reflects the Senate Secretariat’s continued commitment to institutional development, modernization and sustainable reforms through innovative solutions that strengthen parliamentary governance while ensuring the efficient utilization of public resources.
