Islamabad, August 12, 2026: Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide will undertake an official visit to Pakistan on August 13-14 at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, marking the first visit by a Norwegian foreign minister to Pakistan in a decade.
During the visit, Dar and Eide will hold delegation-level talks covering the full spectrum of Pakistan-Norway relations, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The two sides are expected to discuss ways to expand bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade and investment, climate change, renewable energy, education and people-to-people contacts.
They will also exchange views on important regional and international developments.
The visit comes amid sustained high-level engagement between Pakistan and Norway. The two foreign ministers held telephone conversations in March and April 2026, while Norwegian State Secretary Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik visited Islamabad in May.
The Norwegian foreign minister’s visit is expected to provide an opportunity to further strengthen the longstanding and cordial relations between the two countries and identify new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation.
The visit also reflects the two sides’ continued efforts to deepen bilateral engagement and broaden cooperation in areas of shared interest.
