Kabul, August 14, 2026: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul on Friday commemorated Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with a dignified flag-hoisting ceremony attended by Pakistani nationals, professionals and students living and working in Afghanistan.
Ambassador of Pakistan to Afghanistan Ubaid Ur Rehman Nizamani hoisted the national flag at the ceremony, following which the messages of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar were read out.
In his remarks, Ambassador Nizamani reaffirmed the vision outlined by the country’s leadership in their Independence Day messages and paid tribute to the founding fathers whose unparalleled struggle and sacrifices culminated in the creation of an independent Pakistan.
He also recalled the courage and commitment demonstrated by Pakistan’s security forces in confronting internal and external challenges, reaffirming the nation’s resolve to overcome threats to its security and sovereignty.
The ambassador underscored Pakistan’s role as a stabilising force and highlighted the country’s continued efforts to promote global peace, regional stability and cooperation.
The ceremony brought together Pakistanis associated with various United Nations agencies and other international organisations in Afghanistan, along with Pakistani professionals and students, who joined in commemorating the national day.
The event concluded with a renewed emphasis on Pakistan’s commitment to peace, stability and constructive regional engagement.
