Gujranwala, August 14,2026: Sri Lankan high commissioner to Pakistan, Fred Senevirathne, visited the Gujranwala Women Chamber of Commerce (GWCCI) and met with its President, Executive Committee members, and general membership.

During the meeting, President Ms. Yasmin Dawood delivered welcoming remarks that highlighted the Chamber’s expanding role in promoting women-led businesses and entrepreneurship across the region.

She noted that GWCCI currently comprises 108 members, representing over 40 registered business and service categories, ranging from fashion, textiles, and beauty salons to pharmaceuticals, organic food products, handicrafts, interior design, art galleries, and other emerging sectors.

In turn, high commissioner briefed the participants on Sri Lanka’s current political and economic landscape, underscoring the country’s steady recovery and ongoing efforts to foster a conducive environment for trade and foreign investment. He also outlined specific investment opportunities available across key sectors and detailed the various facilitation measures and incentives that the Sri Lankan Government currently provides to attract and support international investors.

The briefing generated keen interest among the GWCCI members, who expressed strong enthusiasm for participating in Expo 2027 and exploring collaborative ventures with Sri Lankan businesses and institutions. President Ms. Yasmin Dawood further conveyed her willingness to lead a GWCCI delegation to Sri Lanka for the event, with the aim of pursuing tangible business and investment partnerships.

Concluding the productive dialogue, both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening women-led entrepreneurship, trade, investment, institutional linkages, and B2B cooperation between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. We expressed mutual hope that continued exchanges and active participation in upcoming events will contribute meaningfully to the expansion and deepening of economic and commercial relations between our two nations.
