Islamabad, August 15, 2026: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and widespread destruction caused by the powerful earthquake in Indonesia.
In a message posted on social media, the prime minister extended heartfelt condolences, on behalf of the people and Government of Pakistan, to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the people of Indonesia and the families of those who lost their lives.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected,” Shehbaz Sharif said, praying for the swift recovery of those injured in the disaster.
He said Pakistan stood “shoulder to shoulder” with the brotherly people of Indonesia during the difficult period and wished strength and resilience to all those affected by the tragedy.
The prime minister’s message came as Indonesian authorities continued rescue and relief operations following the powerful earthquake, which caused significant casualties and damage across parts of eastern Indonesia.
