Mumbai, August 16, 2026: Veteran Bollywood actor Sunny Deol has said he will never endorse pan masala or other products that conflict with his personal beliefs, despite receiving lucrative offers from brands in the sector.

The 68-year-old actor, who is currently promoting his upcoming film Batwara 1947, made the remarks during an appearance on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, where he discussed his approach to commercial endorsements and the principles that guide his professional choices.

Deol said he had received several offers to promote pan masala products but had consistently turned them down because he did not believe such products should be promoted.

“I don’t do pan masala ads and will never do them ever. I wouldn’t do any of those things. I get offers for such ads. I don’t want to do something which I don’t believe in,” he said.

The veteran actor said financial considerations did not influence his decision, stressing that he preferred to associate himself only with products he considered appropriate and beneficial for consumers.

“I don’t believe in it. I don’t think this is a good thing to promote,” Deol added.

His comments have once again drawn attention to the debate surrounding celebrity endorsements of products that may carry health risks. While several prominent actors and public figures have appeared in advertisements for pan masala and related products, Deol said he preferred to maintain a clear distance from such commercial opportunities.

The actor explained that his approach to endorsements reflected a broader personal philosophy of remaining comfortable with the products and brands he represents rather than accepting every financially attractive offer.

On the professional front, Deol is promoting Batwara 1947, a historical drama centred on the Partition of India. The film features an ensemble cast including Aamir Khan, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal and Preity Zinta.

His comments on brand endorsements have attracted attention as the actor continues to promote the film, highlighting his emphasis on personal conviction and values when making professional decisions.
