Islamabad, August 19, 2026: OIC-COMSTECH, in collaboration with the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD) and partner institutions, hosted the International Education Summit and Expo 2026 at the COMSTECH Secretariat in Islamabad, bringing together education leaders, policymakers, industry representatives and investors to explore the role of education in sustainable development and economic growth.

Held under the theme “Promoting Global Education for Sustainable Growth and Economic Prosperity,” the summit brought together vice chancellors, policymakers, education experts, industry representatives, investors and international organisations.

Federal Minister for Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, who attended as the chief guest, highlighted the importance of linking education with employability, innovation, investment and sustainable economic growth.

Welcoming the participants, Coordinator General OIC-COMSTECH Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary said education was a foundational pillar of the future and urged universities to adapt to emerging technologies, global uncertainties and the evolving needs of younger generations.

The summit featured speakers from the ICCD, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) and Higher Education Commission (HEC).

Panel discussions focused on accessible global education, student mobility, vocational skills development, women’s leadership, artificial intelligence and stronger collaboration between academia and industry.

The event provided a platform for policymakers, academic institutions and the private sector to exchange ideas and explore partnerships aimed at strengthening education systems, developing future-ready skills and promoting greater international cooperation in education and innovation.

The organisers emphasized the need for stronger links between educational institutions and economic sectors to ensure that education contributes more effectively to employment generation, technological advancement and sustainable economic prosperity.
