Islamabad, October 3, 2026: Deputy Director of the International Communication Department of China News Service (CNS), Wang Gaofei, visited the head office of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) in Islamabad and met with Managing Director Aftab ur Rehman Rana.
Welcoming the Chinese media official, the PTDC managing director highlighted Pakistan’s diverse tourism resources, particularly its rich Buddhist heritage and the enduring legacy of the ancient Gandhara Civilization.
He briefed Wang Gaofei on PTDC initiatives aimed at enhancing Pakistan’s visibility in China’s growing outbound tourism market, including familiarisation visits for Chinese travel influencers, business delegations, media representatives and other tourism stakeholders.
The meeting also discussed opportunities to strengthen tourism and media exchanges between Pakistan and China, enhance destination awareness, promote cultural understanding and encourage greater tourist flows and people-to-people connectivity.
Sharing her experiences of travelling across Pakistan, Wang appreciated the country’s landscapes, cultural diversity and tourism resources. She described Pakistan as an underrated destination with significant tourism potential.
She also expressed appreciation for the hospitality and arrangements extended during her visit and conveyed interest in expanding future cooperation in tourism, media and cultural exchanges.
As a gesture of friendship and appreciation, Rana presented Wang with “Salam Pakistan” souvenirs and Chinese-language tourism publications, highlighting Pakistan’s efforts to welcome Chinese visitors and promote its diverse tourism experiences.
The PTDC said strategic international media engagement and collaboration would continue to play a role in showcasing Pakistan’s tourism attractions to global audiences and strengthening tourism, cultural and people-to-people ties between Pakistan and China.
