Islamabad, August 20, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Thursday received a telephone call from Brazilian Foreign Minister Ambassador Mauro Vieira, during which the two sides discussed regional and international developments and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Brazilian foreign minister commended Pakistan’s constructive role and efforts towards mediation in the US-Iran context, underscoring the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in promoting global peace and security.
Vieira also felicitated Ishaq Dar on Pakistan’s signing of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, which brought together Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye in a framework aimed at strengthening collective security and defence cooperation.
Dar thanked his Brazilian counterpart for the sentiments and appreciated Brazil’s important role in advancing South-South cooperation as well as its commitment to international peace and stability.
The two foreign ministers underscored the importance of maintaining sustained high-level contacts and close coordination at the United Nations and other multilateral forums. They reaffirmed their commitment to multilateralism, dialogue and diplomacy as key instruments for addressing regional and global challenges.
Dar and Vieira also exchanged views on a range of regional and international developments and agreed to remain closely engaged to further advance Pakistan-Brazil relations.
The two sides also extended reciprocal invitations for visits. Dar invited Vieira to visit Pakistan, while the Brazilian foreign minister reciprocated with an invitation for the Pakistani foreign minister to visit Brazil.
Both ministers agreed to remain closely connected and expressed their desire to further strengthen bilateral ties and expand cooperation between Pakistan and Brazil.
