Islamabad, August21, 2026:Secretary Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Dr. Shahida Rehmani has extended her warm congratulations to the Hon’ble Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly on the constitution of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Women’s Parliamentary Caucus.

Dr. Shahida Rehmani welcomed the notification issued by the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly on 11th August 2026 describing the establishment of the Caucus as an important step towards strengthening women’s parliamentary participation and providing a collective platform for women legislators in Gilgit-Baltistan.

She appreciated the leadership and support of the Speaker in bringing women parliamentarians from different political parties together under the platform of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus.

Dr. Shahida Rehmani said that the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus of the National Assembly believes in strengthening coordination and solidarity among women parliamentarians across Pakistan. She expressed her commitment to extending the full support and cooperation of the National Assembly WPC to the newly constituted Gilgit-Baltistan Women’s Parliamentary Caucus.

She further highlighted the importance of knowledge-sharing, capacity-building, peer learning and technical support to strengthen the institutional role of the Caucus and enhance the effective participation of women parliamentarians in legislative and parliamentary processes.

Dr. Shahida Rehmani expressed hope that the Gilgit-Baltistan Women’s Parliamentary Caucus would play an effective role in promoting women’s rights, gender-responsive legislation and issues of importance to women and girls in Gilgit-Baltistan.

She also expressed her desire to strengthen linkages between the National Assembly WPC and the Gilgit-Baltistan Women’s Parliamentary Caucus through joint consultations, learning initiatives and continued parliamentary cooperation.

The constitution of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Women’s Parliamentary Caucus is an encouraging development for women’s political participation. The National Assembly Women’s Parliamentary Caucus stands ready to support and work closely with our sisters in Gilgit-Baltistan to further strengthen this important parliamentary platform,” Dr. Shahida Rehmani said.

She once again congratulated the Hon’ble Speaker and all members of the newly constituted Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Women’s Parliamentary Caucus and wished them success in their parliamentary work.

Mrs. Sadia Danish. Mrs. Sobia Jabeen, Mrs. Dilshad Bano, Mrs. Sajida Bedum, Mrs. Kulsoom Jahangir, Miss Jenifer Bahadur are members of WPC Gilgit-Baltistan.
