Islamabad, August 23, 2026: A delegation from Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications held talks with the Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Islamabad on Sunday to explore prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in information technology and digital transformation.

The Pakistani delegation, led by Muhammad Amir Malik, a member of the Department of International Coordination, visited the Embassy of Turkmenistan, where discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in the IT sector and developing new areas of collaboration between the two countries.

During the meeting, both sides acknowledged the significant potential for expanding interaction and implementing joint initiatives across a broad range of information technology-related fields.

The Turkmen side briefed the Pakistani delegation on the country’s IT policy, which focuses on improving living standards through the adoption of advanced technologies and the digital transformation of the economy, public administration and social sectors.

The meeting also covered developments in Turkmenistan as the country prepares to mark the 35th anniversary of its state independence under the motto, “Independent, permanently neutral Turkmenistan – the homeland of purposeful heavenly horses.”

Particular attention was given to the planned September meeting of the Halk Maslakhaty, Turkmenistan’s highest representative body, and its historical and socio-political significance.

The Turkmen side also highlighted the first-ever Akhal-Teke Horse Championship, scheduled to take place in the Netherlands from September 4 to 6, 2026.

The championship is expected to serve as an international platform for promoting the Akhal-Teke horse, enhancing cultural ties and further strengthening Turkmenistan’s international profile.

The two sides reaffirmed their readiness to support each other’s initiatives at international forums and expressed a commitment to further strengthening the friendly and mutually beneficial relations between Pakistan and Turkmenistan.
