Islamabad, August 23, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar will undertake an official visit to the United Kingdom from August 24 to 28, where he is scheduled to hold a series of high-level meetings with British officials and international organisations, the Foreign Office said on Sunday.
According to a Foreign Office statement, Dar will meet UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, FCDO Minister of State for Pakistan Stephen Doughty and other senior members of the British government during his five-day visit.
The talks are expected to cover bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest, with the two sides likely to discuss ways to further strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
Dar will also meet the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to discuss the situation involving Pakistani crew members held by Somali pirates aboard the oil tanker MT Honour 25.
The maritime security issue is expected to be an important component of the foreign minister’s engagements, particularly given Pakistan’s interest in securing the safe release and welfare of its nationals involved in the incident.
During his visit, Dar will also hold a meeting with Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey to discuss issues relating to the Commonwealth and Pakistan’s engagement with the organisation.
The deputy prime minister will further engage with British parliamentarians as well as representatives of the British-Pakistani community.
The visit comes as Pakistan seeks to further deepen its engagement with the UK across diplomatic, political and people-to-people ties. Dar’s meetings with senior British officials are expected to provide an opportunity to review bilateral cooperation and discuss regional and international developments of mutual interest.
