Islamabad, August 27, 2026: The National Assembly Secretariat and Save the Children International have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen institutional collaboration on child-specific issues and support parliamentary initiatives aimed at promoting and protecting children’s rights in Pakistan.
The MoU was signed at Parliament House in Islamabad on Thursday by National Assembly Secretary Saeed Ahmad Maitla and Save the Children International Country Director Muhammad Khurram Gondal.
Federal Coordinator of the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights (PCCR) and Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Danyal Chaudhry, along with MNAs Asia Naz Tanoli and Daniyal Ahmed, attended the signing ceremony.
The agreement aims to enhance cooperation between the National Assembly Secretariat and Save the Children International in supporting the PCCR’s work on child-related legislation, policies and initiatives.
Key areas of collaboration include the Children’s Citizens Internship Programme, digital protection of children and other initiatives focused on the promotion and protection of child rights.
The partnership is intended to facilitate evidence-based parliamentary engagement, strengthen child-focused initiatives and contribute to creating a safer, more inclusive and supportive environment for children across Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, officials highlighted the importance of stronger institutional partnerships in addressing emerging challenges affecting children and ensuring that parliamentary efforts are informed by evidence, expertise and the needs of young people.
The signing of the MoU marks a step towards closer cooperation between Parliament and Save the Children International and reflects a shared commitment to advancing the rights, protection and well-being of children in Pakistan.
Special Secretary (Special Initiatives) Syed Shamoon Hashmi, Chief Technical Advisor Minail Khan and National Assembly Secretariat officials, including Syed Hazik Bukhari, Iffat Pervaz and Syed M. Arslan Kazmi, were also present.
Save the Children International was represented by Country Director Muhammad Khurram Gondal, Mohammad Amer, Noor ul Amin, Rabia Rauf, Fawad Bakhtiar and Munazza Ali.
