Islamabad, August 31, 2026: President Asif Ali Zardari has conveyed warm felicitations to the government and people of Malaysia on the occasion of Merdeka Day, marking the country’s 69th Independence Day.
In a letter addressed to Sultan Ibrahim, Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, the President said Merdeka Day marked a historic milestone in Malaysia’s journey as an independent nation and reflected the vision of its founding fathers, the leadership of the country and the dedication of its people.
President Zardari said Pakistan and Malaysia enjoy close and friendly relations based on shared values, common faith, mutual trust and longstanding cooperation.
He noted that bilateral cooperation between the two countries had continued to expand across a range of areas, including trade and investment, education, defence, culture and people-to-people exchanges.
The President expressed confidence that Pakistan-Malaysia cooperation would continue to deepen and broaden for the mutual benefit of the two countries and their peoples.
He also conveyed his best wishes for the good health and happiness of the Malaysian leadership and prayed for continued peace, progress and prosperity for the people of Malaysia.
