Islamabad, August 31, 2026: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will undertake a three-day official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic from August 31 to September 2 at the invitation of President Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Zhaparov, with the visit focused on strengthening Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan ties and advancing cooperation through the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

The Prime Minister will participate in the SCO Council of Heads of State meeting and the SCO Plus Summit in Bishkek, where Pakistan will assume the chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State for 2026-27.

The Prime Minister will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ataullah Tarar and senior government officials.

During his stay in Bishkek, Prime Minister Shehbaz will hold bilateral meetings with leaders of participating countries on the sidelines of the SCO engagements to discuss regional and international issues of mutual interest.

He will also attend the opening ceremony of the World Nomad Games on August 31.

On September 2, Prime Minister Shehbaz will hold comprehensive bilateral discussions with President Sadyr Zhaparov on the entire spectrum of Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan relations.

The two leaders will review progress in bilateral cooperation and explore avenues for further strengthening economic and strategic ties, particularly in trade and investment, energy, regional connectivity, education, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.

They will also exchange views on regional and international developments and discuss cooperation at regional and multilateral forums.

The Foreign Office said Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan enjoy warm and fraternal relations rooted in shared history, faith and cultural affinity, as well as common aspirations for peace, connectivity and prosperity in Central and South Asia.

The visit is expected to provide an opportunity to build on the momentum generated by recent high-level exchanges and translate existing political goodwill into tangible economic and development cooperation.

Pakistan’s assumption of the SCO Council of Heads of State chairmanship for 2026-27 will also provide Islamabad with an opportunity to contribute to the organisation’s agenda and strengthen engagement with its member and partner states.

The Foreign Office said the visit would further consolidate the enduring partnership between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan and promote closer regional cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
