Islamabad, September 3, 2026: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday visited the Embassy of Nepal in Islamabad to express solidarity with the people of Nepal following devastating flash floods and landslides that claimed lives and caused widespread destruction.
The prime minister was received by Ambassador of Nepal to Pakistan Rita Dhital and signed the condolence book opened in memory of those who lost their lives in the tragedy.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch and other senior officials accompanied the prime minister during the visit.
In his message in the condolence book, Shehbaz conveyed Pakistan’s deepest sympathies to the Government and people of Nepal as well as to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones.
The prime minister reiterated the sentiments he had earlier conveyed to Nepali Prime Minister Balendra Shah during a telephone conversation, reaffirming Pakistan’s complete solidarity with Nepal in the wake of the disaster.
Shehbaz also informed Ambassador Dhital that Pakistan would dispatch emergency relief assistance to Nepal later this week to support ongoing rescue and relief operations.
He offered Pakistan’s continued support to Nepal and expressed hope that the resilient people of the country would emerge stronger from the devastating floods and landslides.
The prime minister underscored the close and longstanding fraternal ties between Pakistan and Nepal, saying the two countries would continue to stand by each other during times of need.
Ambassador Dhital thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz for his message of sympathy and reassurance, saying the gesture would be long remembered by the people of Nepal.
She also briefed the prime minister on the current state of bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Nepal.
