Islamabad, September 7, 2026: President Asif Ali Zardari has extended warm felicitations to Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the government and people of Brazil on the country’s Independence Day, expressing confidence in further strengthening Pakistan-Brazil relations.
In his message, President Zardari conveyed his best wishes for the continued progress, prosperity and well-being of the Brazilian people.
He said Pakistan greatly valued its warm and cordial relations with Brazil, which were based on mutual respect, shared interests and close cooperation at international forums.
The president noted that Pakistan and Brazil, as two important countries of the Global South, had considerable potential to develop a stronger and more diversified partnership.
He identified trade and investment, agriculture and livestock, food security, science and technology, renewable energy, climate action, education and people-to-people exchanges as key areas offering opportunities for expanded bilateral cooperation.
President Zardari also commended President Lula for what he described as his principled advocacy of a rules-based, equitable and just international order.
He appreciated the Brazilian president’s emphasis on respect for international law, peaceful resolution of disputes, effective multilateralism and reform of global governance institutions, as well as his efforts to ensure a stronger voice for developing countries.
Zardari said Brazil’s constructive role in promoting dialogue, sustainable development and South-South cooperation represented an important contribution towards building a more representative, inclusive and peaceful international system.
The president reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with Brazil, both bilaterally and at multilateral forums, to further strengthen relations and advance shared objectives of peace, development and prosperity.
He expressed confidence that the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Brazil would continue to deepen in the years ahead.
