Dubai, September 14, 2026: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday fined Pakistan players 5% of their match fees for maintaining a slow over-rate during their ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 semi-final against Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Pakistan were found to be one over short of the required rate after time allowances were taken into consideration. GS Lakshmi of the ICC International Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction.
Under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, players are fined 5% of their match fee for every over their team fails to bowl within the allotted time.
Pakistan captain Fatima Sana accepted the charge after on-field umpires Vrinda Rathi and Shathira Jakir Jesy, third umpire Rokeya Sultana and fourth umpire Rabab Ahsan levelled the offence, ruling out the need for a formal hearing.
The penalty adds to Pakistan’s disappointment after they were eliminated from the Women’s T20 Asia Cup with a four-wicket defeat against defending champions Sri Lanka in the second semi-final.
Batting first, Pakistan posted 130-5, with Fatima Sana leading the late charge. The right-hander top-scored with an unbeaten 47 off 36 balls, hitting four fours and two sixes.
Sri Lanka chased down the 131-run target for the loss of six wickets with eight balls to spare despite Fatima’s four-wicket haul, securing their place in the final against India.
