Lahore, October 29,2026: Opener Ben Duckett struck his highest score in one-day internationals, smashing 167 off 132 balls to help England post 386-5 against Sri Lanka in a dead-rubber tri-series match at Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday.
Duckett’s commanding innings, featuring 24 boundaries, anchored England’s batting after they were sent in to bat on a batting-friendly pitch. He shared a 163-run opening partnership with Tom Banton, who contributed 74 off 75 balls, including two sixes and eight fours.
Duckett then added 107 runs off just 75 balls for the second wicket with England captain Harry Brook, who scored 44 off 34 deliveries, hitting two sixes and three fours.
Duckett eventually departed in the 42nd over after mistiming a scoop shot against Eshan Malinga.
Jordan Cox added 43 runs, while Will Jacks scored 30 and Sam Curran remained unbeaten on 21 as England collected 92 runs in the final 10 overs.
Sri Lankan fast bowler Asitha Fernando took two wickets for 63 runs, while Malinga claimed one wicket but conceded 101 runs.
England had already been eliminated from contention for Saturday’s final after losing all three of their previous matches. Their campaign included a failure to defend a 430-run target against Sri Lanka and conceding 89 runs for Pakistan’s last wicket.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka will face each other in the final in Lahore on Saturday.
Duckett’s previous highest ODI score was 165 against Australia in the Champions Trophy at the same venue last year.
