Islamabad, September 30, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to an open, inclusive and constructive chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), stressing the need to translate the grouping’s shared vision into practical cooperation and tangible outcomes.
Dar made the remarks while addressing national coordinators of SCO member states, along with senior representatives of the SCO Secretariat and the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS), at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad.
Welcoming the national coordinators to the first meeting of the Council of National Coordinators under Pakistan’s chairmanship, the Deputy Prime Minister said Pakistan’s approach would be guided by the “Shanghai Spirit” of mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation and common development.
He highlighted the theme of Pakistan’s SCO chairmanship, “Turning Vision into Action: Connectivity, Innovation, and Shared Prosperity”, and emphasised the importance of converting the organisation’s shared vision into concrete initiatives and meaningful results.
Dar also highlighted Pakistan’s preparations to host the SCO Council of Heads of State in Islamabad in 2027.
He called for close coordination among SCO member states to ensure the success of Pakistan’s chairmanship and the upcoming summit, while emphasising the importance of collective efforts to advance cooperation in areas of shared interest.
The meeting brought together senior representatives of SCO member states and key SCO institutions to discuss coordination and preparations under Pakistan’s chairmanship.
