Islamabad, September 30, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday directed the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) to proceed with acceptance of the lowest bid or bids for the procurement of the remaining 185,000 metric tonnes of wheat required by Sindh for the food year 2026–27.
Dar chaired the 7th meeting of the Steering Committee on Wheat Imports, which reviewed progress on arrangements for wheat imports and measures to ensure timely procurement and supply.
The deputy prime minister directed the governments of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to promptly arrange the required payments and complete tripartite agreements with TCP to facilitate the import process without delay.
Dar underscored that timely wheat imports would help ensure adequate supplies in the domestic market at reasonable prices and provide maximum relief to consumers.
The meeting reviewed the overall progress of wheat import arrangements and the remaining procurement requirements, with relevant authorities directed to complete necessary formalities expeditiously.
The meeting was attended by the Minister for National Food Security and Research, Sindh Minister for Food, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Secretary Commerce, Managing Director PASSCO, relevant provincial secretaries and senior officials from the Ministry of National Food Security and Research and TCP.
