Gwadar, October 22,2026: Security forces have killed three terrorists and surrounded seven others during ongoing operations in Gwadar after foiling an attempted attack on an unoccupied construction company’s camp, security sources said on Thursday.
According to the sources, security forces responded promptly to an attempted attack by militants identified by the authorities as belonging to Fitna al Hindustan, thwarting their attempt to target the vacant camp.
Three terrorists were killed during the operation, while three others were surrounded at the site, the sources said.
In a separate operation following another attempted attack, security forces surrounded four terrorists inside a hotel near the Gwadar highway.
The two operations brought the total number of terrorists surrounded by security forces to seven, according to the sources.
The Gwadar General Officer Commanding (GOC) is personally leading the operations, they added.
Pakistan has witnessed an increase in militant attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021.
The country recorded its highest monthly number of militant attacks in 12 years in September 2026, according to the report.
Islamabad has repeatedly urged Kabul to prevent its territory from being used by militant organisations to launch attacks inside Pakistan. Pakistani authorities maintain that the Afghan Taliban government has failed to take effective action against groups responsible for attacks on Pakistani security personnel and civilians.
Despite several rounds of talks, Pakistan and Afghanistan have yet to resolve their differences, with the presence of militant groups on Afghan soil remaining a major source of tension between the two countries.
