Islamabad, October 25,2026: Iran has clarified that its border with Pakistan remains open and there are no restrictions on exports of Iranian goods, including liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), to Pakistan.
Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam issued the clarification amid reports about the possible closure of the border, saying Tehran had not imposed any restrictions on exports to its neighbouring country.
“Iran’s borders with all its neighbouring countries remain open,” the ambassador said in a statement posted on X.
He added that closing borders with neighbouring countries, particularly Pakistan, would be neither logical nor in the interests of either side under the prevailing circumstances.
However, Moghadam pointed to changes in Pakistan’s E-Form procedure for imports from Iran, saying the revised process had left traders “effectively and literally unable to dispatch cargo from Iran to Pakistan”.
He said consultations with Pakistani authorities were underway to resolve the issue.
The Iranian ambassador said reports indicated that several hundred trucks carrying LPG had crossed the Rimdan border into Gabd on the Pakistani side but had remained there for several weeks without being unloaded or cleared.
He said the situation was creating further difficulties for the movement of goods and the smooth flow of bilateral trade.
Moghadam emphasized that cross-border trade was an integral part of agreements reached between Pakistan and Iran at the highest levels and served the interests of both countries and their people.
He said Iran had made every possible effort to facilitate and promote bilateral trade.
The ambassador reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to working closely with Pakistani counterparts to resolve the outstanding issues, facilitate cargo movement and strengthen economic cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.
