Islamabad, November 2,2026: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Housing and Works on Monday deferred its 13th meeting due to the absence of the concerned minister, secretary and senior officers, expressing serious concerns over incomplete information and delays in submitting compliance reports.

The meeting was held at the Constitution Room, Parliament House, under the chairmanship of Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, MNA.

The committee expressed concern over the non-submission of the required compliance report and the provision of incomplete information, directing the Ministry of Housing and Works and its attached departments to submit all outstanding compliance reports, implementation status of previous recommendations, complete agenda-wise briefs and verified responses well before the next meeting.

It emphasized improved coordination and timely communication to ensure meaningful deliberations and effective parliamentary oversight.

The committee also stressed that Pakistan Works Department (PWD) employees placed in the Surplus Pool should be considered for adjustment against available positions in PIDAMA, citing their valuable experience, institutional knowledge and relevant expertise.

It observed that inducting new employees would require additional time for orientation and familiarization with existing systems and procedures, while utilizing experienced surplus employees would help ensure continuity and operational efficiency.

The meeting was attended by Anjum Aqeel Khan, Ibrar Ahmad, Anwar Ul Haq Chaudhry, Samina Khalid Ghurki (online), Syed Sami Ul Hassan Gilani, Seema Mohi-ud-Din Jameeli, Dr. Darshan, Mir Amir Ali Magsi and Hassaan Sabir (online), along with officers of the Ministry of Housing and Works and its attached departments.
