Islamabad, November 4,2026: Pakistan and the United Kingdom have reaffirmed their commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, agreeing to strengthen institutional cooperation and maintain regular engagement to advance their shared counterterrorism objectives.

The understanding was reached during the annual Pakistan-UK Counterterrorism Dialogue held in Islamabad on Wednesday.

The Pakistani delegation was led by Dr. Fareha Bugti, Director General (Counterterrorism), while the UK delegation was headed by Thomas Barry, Director for National and Economic Security at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

According to the Foreign Office, the UK side expressed condolences over the loss of innocent lives in terrorist attacks in Pakistan and reiterated its support for the country’s fight against terrorism.

Both sides held detailed and constructive discussions on the evolving regional and global security environment, exchanging views on threats posed by terrorist entities, including transnational terrorist networks.

The delegations expressed concern over the continuing threat posed by terrorist groups, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), operating in and from Afghanistan.

They underscored the urgent need for a stable and secure Afghanistan as a cornerstone for lasting peace and prosperity across the region.

The two sides reviewed ongoing bilateral and multilateral cooperation in counterterrorism and explored new avenues for partnership to address emerging threats.

Discussions also covered the exchange of best practices and measures to counter new trends in terrorism, including misinformation and disinformation campaigns, the exploitation of social media platforms and emerging technologies.

Both delegations acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions to regional stability and security.

They agreed to strengthen institutional linkages and maintain regular engagement to advance their shared counterterrorism objectives.

The two sides agreed that the next round of the Pakistan-UK Counterterrorism Dialogue would be held in London in 2027 on mutually agreed dates.

The dialogue reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to strengthening cooperation against terrorism and addressing evolving security challenges through sustained diplomatic engagement.
