Parachinar, December 6, 2024: Rival tribes in Kurram district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, have reached an “indefinite ceasefire” following violent clashes that resulted in at least 133 deaths and 186 injuries. The ceasefire agreement came after a grand Jirga, led by the Kohat Region Commissioner, with over 100 tribal elders in attendance.

The recent violence, which erupted after ambushes on two convoys on November 21, escalated into ongoing clashes. Following earlier, short-lived ceasefires, the latest agreement aims for lasting peace. KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur praised the efforts, calling for the immediate resettlement of displaced victims and the seizure of weapons from the rival tribes.
