Lahore, December 20, 2024 – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that Gwadar, the scenic port city in Balochistan, will host the Player Draft for the 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (HBL PSL). The draft ceremony, which officially kicks off the league’s festivities, is set to take place on Saturday, January 11, 2025.

In a press release, the PCB highlighted that this decision underscores its commitment to promoting cricket across all regions of Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan, where the sport enjoys a growing following. “By selecting Gwadar, the PCB aims to inspire the youth in the region to pursue cricket as a professional career and spotlight the city’s cultural and economic significance,” the statement read.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi shared his thoughts on the occasion:
“Gwadar, with its stunning coastline and strategic importance, represents the heart of Pakistan’s economic future. By hosting the HBL PSL Player Draft here, we aim to highlight its cultural and economic significance while celebrating the unity cricket brings to our nation.

“I look forward to welcoming all the franchises and stakeholders to the beautiful city of Gwadar on January 11 as we take an exciting step toward launching the 10th edition of Pakistan’s biggest sporting extravaganza.”

HBL PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer also expressed his excitement, stating:
“HBL PSL is more than just a cricket league for the passionate fans of Pakistan—it’s a celebration of our nation’s passion, diversity, and talent. Hosting the Player Draft in Gwadar is a significant step toward inspiring young cricketers from Balochistan and beyond to dream big.”

The HBL PSL continues to serve as a unifying force in Pakistan, showcasing the country’s cricketing potential while celebrating its rich cultural diversity. The decision to host the draft in Gwadar reflects the league’s mission to bring cricket closer to every corner of the country.
