Peshawar, December 20, 2024: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Apex Committee has announced plans to dismantle all bunkers in the Kurram district as part of ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.

The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. The meeting was attended by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the Peshawar Corps Commander, the KP Chief Secretary, the Inspector General of Police, and other senior cabinet members.

The committee reviewed peace initiatives across the province and received updates on the progress of the grand jirga. Discussions centered on strategies to prevent future unrest, with a strong emphasis on disarmament and confidence-building measures, including the removal of bunkers.

Interior Minister Naqvi assured the committee of federal support, stating that ensuring peace in Kurram remains a top priority. He also committed to strengthening the operational capabilities of provincial law enforcement agencies.

The committee stressed the importance of ongoing dialogue with local communities to encourage the voluntary return of weapons, highlighting the dismantling of bunkers as a crucial step toward stabilizing the region and fostering lasting harmony.

This initiative marks a significant move in the province’s broader peace-building efforts.
