Peshawar, December 23, 2024: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram has strongly condemned the £190 million corruption case against former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, calling it the “worst example of political victimization.”

Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, Akram warned that the public would not tolerate further injustices against the imprisoned ex-premier. His remarks came after the Islamabad accountability court postponed its verdict in the case, originally scheduled for today, to January 6.

Expressing frustration over the delay, Akram questioned the reasons behind the rescheduling and criticized the judicial process for what he described as undue complications.

The PTI leader asserted that the case was politically motivated, labeling it an act of “political revenge” orchestrated by the government to target Khan. He described the PTI chief as Pakistan’s “biggest leader” and cautioned that the case would draw international scrutiny.

Akram accused the government of fabricating the allegations to pressure Khan into submission. He reiterated that the charges were baseless, stating that the case revolved around a “fabricated story” involving the Al-Qadir Trust.

The £190 million case alleges corruption and misuse of funds tied to the trust. Akram defended Khan, arguing that he served solely as a trustee and had no role in any financial misconduct.

The PTI continues to maintain that the case is part of a larger campaign of political harassment against its leader, further intensifying political tensions in the country.
