Jamshoro, December 23, 2024: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has issued a stark warning about the catastrophic consequences of the melting Himalayan glaciers, calling it a dire threat to future generations that demands immediate and decisive action.

Addressing a convention at Sindh University Jamshoro, Bilawal emphasized that climate change remains the world’s greatest challenge. He pointed to the devastating floods in Pakistan as a harbinger of recurring disasters driven by glacier melt, which threaten water resources, livelihoods, and national stability.

Criticizing outdated planning by senior bureaucrats, Bilawal called for the adoption of climate-resilient infrastructure over traditional development models. He highlighted the urgency of transitioning to green energy solutions, such as wind, solar, and hydropower, to replace Pakistan’s reliance on expensive and unsustainable electricity generation.

Bilawal also appealed to students to take the lead in combating climate change by advocating for sustainable development and green infrastructure. He stressed the need for a united national effort to create a sustainable future for Pakistan.

In addition to addressing climate issues, Bilawal pledged to champion affordable internet access and digital rights, aiming to empower the country’s youth in an increasingly connected and digitalized world.
