Islamabad: ban imposed on Pakistanis seeking employment in Uzbekistan

Islamabad, December 31,2024: A temporary ban has been announced on Pakistanis seeking employment in Uzbekistan. According to media reports, the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment has issued orders to halt the process for Pakistanis aspiring to work in Uzbekistan.

The decision comes in light of reports from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighting complaints from Pakistani workers in Uzbekistan about unpaid salaries and unfavorable working conditions.

As reported by an international news agency, all Protectorate Offices across the country have been directed to immediately stop processing “Protector” approvals for workers bound for Uzbekistan.

It is worth noting that for overseas employment, the government issues a “Protector” stamp on passports, which is a mandatory approval sticker, now equipped with a barcode, allowing Pakistani workers to travel abroad for employment.

The ban applies to previously issued permits, overseas employment promoters, and individual applications for direct employment.

The notification states that in case of emergencies, the Protectorate of Emigrants may forward applications to the concerned Pakistani embassy, provided all necessary documents and employer verifications are completed. The Protector approval will only be granted upon embassy clearance.
