Rawalpindi, January 2, 2025: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has claimed that its founder and former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, was offered a deal to serve the remainder of his jail sentence at his residence in Bani Gala, Islamabad. Faisal Chaudhry, Khan’s lawyer, disclosed this to reporters outside Adiala Jail on Thursday.

“Khan said he was offered to be moved to Bani Gala but emphasized that he would not accept any such offer until all those detained without trial are released,” Chaudhry said.

Last month, media outlets speculated that the government might consider placing Imran Khan under house arrest in exchange for his agreement to refrain from challenging the current political system and ceasing “politics of agitation.”

Earlier this week, Aleema Khan, Imran Khan’s sister, dismissed any possibility of her brother accepting a deal. Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, she stated, “Why would he strike a deal after spending one and a half years in prison?”

She reiterated that Imran Khan’s legal battles were nearing resolution and clarified that he was not negotiating any personal relief with the government.

Similarly, PTI Senator Shibli Faraz denied allegations that the party leader sought leniency in exchange for concessions, calling such reports a “false perception.”

Chaudhry suggested that certain elements were attempting to undermine dialogue between the PTI and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) coalition government. He urged authorities to allow PTI’s negotiation committee to meet Khan in jail, emphasizing that the talks could lead to constructive outcomes.

“The PTI founder believes the party’s moment has arrived and that no force can halt its progress,” Chaudhry added.

Regarding the £190 million corruption case against Imran Khan, Chaudhry expressed confidence that the outcome would align with the acquittals in four previous cases against the former prime minister.

Imran Khan remains incarcerated in Adiala Jail, where he has spent over a year following his arrest amid a string of legal and political controversies. The PTI’s demands for justice and political reconciliation continue to be central to the ongoing negotiations.
