Islamabad, September 6, 2024 – In a special message delivered on Pakistan Defense Day, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir emphasized the significance of September 6th in the nation’s military and national history. He remarked that on this day, Pakistan’s Army, Navy, and Air Force stood united with the people to defeat the far larger enemy’s malicious ambitions. He hailed the spirit of national unity and solidarity demonstrated during the September War as a source of pride for both the armed forces and the nation.

General Munir underscored that this same spirit of unity continues to drive the Pakistan Armed Forces as they vigilantly guard the nation’s borders. He highlighted the unmatched bravery, courage, and professionalism exhibited by the armed forces during the September conflict, noting that their heroic actions are immortalized in history and serve as a beacon for future generations.

Tribute to the Martyrs.

Paying homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country, General Munir referenced Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 154 of the Holy Quran: “And do not say of those who are killed in the way of Allah that they are dead. Rather, they are alive, but you perceive it not.” He noted that this verse reflects the elevated status of the martyrs and the divine blessings they receive.

General Munir also saluted the brave officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army who laid down their lives in the defense of the homeland, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to honor and protect the families of these martyrs. He reiterated that the Army’s guiding principles of “Iman, Taqwa, and Jihad fi Sabilillah” are not only a mark of distinction but also the strongest weapon against the country’s enemies.

The Army Chief expressed confidence in the professional capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces, stating that each officer and soldier embodies the spirit of September as they carry out their duty to protect the country. He remarked that the armed forces, alongside the people of Pakistan, have fought and continue to fight terrorism with unmatched resolve, setting a global example.

The Threat of Traditional and Digital Terrorism

General Munir also addressed the evolving threats of digital terrorism and fifth-generation warfare, describing them as more complex and dangerous than traditional terrorism. He cautioned that foreign elements and anti-state actors are complicating these threats, but stressed that with national unity, Pakistan is effectively countering these emerging challenges.

He credited the security forces and law enforcement agencies for their relentless efforts, which have ensured Pakistan’s stability in the face of external threats.

Commitment to Peace and the Kashmir Issue

Reiterating Pakistan’s desire for peaceful coexistence with its neighbors, General Munir emphasized the nation’s continued vigilance and readiness to defend its sovereignty. He also underscored the importance of resolving the Kashmir issue, urging the global community to recognize that lasting peace in the region depends on a peaceful resolution aligned with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and United Nations resolutions. He lauded the resilience of the Kashmiri people in the face of Indian aggression and human rights violations.

Support for Palestine

Concluding his message, General Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, describing Israeli aggression in Gaza as a stain on the global conscience. He called for the nation to renew its commitment to the country’s safety, progress, and prosperity by fostering unity and setting aside internal differences. He emphasized that as long as Pakistan remains united, no force in the world can harm it.
