Pakistan releases list of 21 survivors from Morocco boat tragedy

Islamabad, January 19, 2025– The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released the names of 21 Pakistani nationals who survived the recent boat tragedy off the coast of Morocco.

A spokesperson from the Foreign Office confirmed that the names and passport numbers of the survivors were made available. The list includes individuals such as Mudassar Hussain, Waseem Khalid, Mohammad Khaliq, Abdul Ghaffar, Gul Shamir, Tanveer Ahmed, Abbas Kazmi, Ghulam Mustafa, Badr Mohiuddin, and Imran Iqbal, among others.

The Foreign Office also acknowledged the swift response of Pakistan’s diplomatic mission in Rabat, which immediately provided aid to the survivors. The embassy arranged for essential supplies such as food, water, medicine, and clothing to assist the affected citizens. In addition, local authorities have provided shelter and medical facilities at the embassy’s request.

A consular team from the embassy is currently in Morocco, maintaining close communication with local authorities to ensure the well-being of the survivors.

The Foreign Office confirmed that efforts are underway to facilitate the survivors’ return to Pakistan, underlining the government’s ongoing commitment to the welfare of overseas Pakistanis.
